The Asian Film Awards are one of the oldest film awards in Asia, instituted in 1954 by the Philippines Film Development Council, now the Cinema Development Association of the Philippines.
The first awards honoured the best films of 1953, while today’s awards are voted on by the ‘Asian Film Academy of Asia’, which includes Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam. The awards are given out every year, on the occasion of the Asian Film Festival, which is organised every first weekend of February by the Cinéma 21 Association.

Happy to announce that the Asian Film Awards will be held from 26th February to 15th March, 2024 in Hong Kong.
The 15th Asian Film Awards (AFA), the most prestigious film awards ceremony in Asia, will be held in Dubai in February 2024.
This year marks the grand finale for this year’s nominations, which were launched in December, and will be closed in early 2019. The AFA will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and will be held at the Dubai International Capital and Cultural Centre and the Dubai World Trade Centre.
The list of nominations for the 15th Asian Film Awards, which will be held on October 8, 2024, is now available. The awards will once again be presented in conjunction with the Busan International Film Festival this year. The ceremony will begin in a hybrid format, with on-site attendance in Busan and participation through the internet.
